Prime Suspect in KNUST Student’s Murder, Daniel Tuffuor Remanded Into Custody Until March 17th

Daniel Tuffuor, the 21-year-old Level 400 Biological Sciences student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has been remanded into custody following his first court appearance at the Prempeh District Court.

Tuffour, the boyfriend of deceased student Joana Deladem Yabani, is the prime suspect in her tragic murder.

At the first court hearing on Friday, February 28th, the prosecution requested for more time to complete their investigations, which was granted by the presiding judge.

The case was therefore adjourned till March 17th, 2025, with Tuffuor to be remanded into custody until then.

Ghanaians were stunned Thursday, February 27th when news emerged that a final year KNUST student’s lifeless body had been found on-campus.

The student was later identifed as Joana Yabani, also a final year biological sciences student. Following preliminary investigations, police arrested Tuffuor, reportedly Joana’s boyfriend.

It’s been reported that Tuffuor had an altercation with Yabani which tragically led to her death. CCTV footage led authorities to arrest Tuffuor. The case resumes in March at which time prosecutors are expected to present more facts in court.
