KILLED! Joana Deladem Yabani
A FEMALE Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences student at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi, has shockingly been found dead on campus.
The lifeless body of Joana Deladem Yabani, who is believed to be 22 years old, was reportedly found near the KNUST Disability and Rehabilitation Center around 5am on Thursday, February 27, 2025.
She was rushed to the University Health Services by some Good Samaritans to help save her life but unfortunately, she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel, who were on duty at the time.
What resulted in the demise of Joana was not immediately known but allegations making rounds suggest that she may have been murdered.
A press release, dated February 27, 2025, authored by Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar, University Relations Office, KNUST, said the heartbreaking incident has been reported to the bereaved family.
“The university has officially informed her family, and we extend our deepest condolences to them during this difficult time”, he wrote, adding that investigations into the case are currently underway.
“A comprehensive investigation is underway in collaboration with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), KNUST Internal Security, and the University Health Services to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.
“The university management is fully committed to ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to ascertain the facts”. Dr. Norris Bekoe indicated and said KNUST was committed to ensuring the safety of its students.
He said, “We wish to assure the university community and the public of our unwavering commitment to safety and well-being of all students and staff”, advising against the spread of false information about the death.
“We urge everyone to stay calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and respect the privacy of the bereaved family during this difficult time. We will provide further updates as the investigation unfolds”, he indicated.
