‘I can’t work over 12 hours and be expected to cook for my husband’

Ghanaian media personality, Abena Moet, has established that she will not tolerate being the only one responsible for house chores in her marital home.

In a discussion on GHOne TV, which was shared online on February 28, 2025, Abena Moet emphasised that she would not work tirelessly day and night only to come home and be expected to cook.

She explained that most men hold the belief that house chores are solely the responsibility of the wife, which often leads to a lack of support for their partners when needed.

“I can’t go out there, work 12 or 15 hours, sit at a table of men, argue my point, or even close a business deal and make money, just to come back home to meet my husband on the couch watching TV, sitting, and waiting for me to cook just because you are the man. Nobody will do that.

“In every relationship, it’s a give and take. It’s either you are helping financially or physically. It is not easy to make money; you know how it is to make money. Imagine you wake up at 4 AM, go for a meeting from 5 AM to 12 PM… and come home to cook for you,” she bluntly stated in a video that has gone viral on X.

Abena Moet added that men should also serve their wives since that is a sign of true leadership.

“When you are sweating on set, we all try to help you out, and that doesn’t make me less. So, if I go to work and come back to see you in the chair doing nothing… Jesus Christ was the head, yet he washed the feet of his disciples. To be able to lead, you must learn to serve,” she added.
