Angel Carbonu Appears To Have Gone Into Hibernation When Teachers Need Him More Than Ever

P.K. Sarpong, a writer for the opposition NPP, has asserted that Eric Angel Carbonu, the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), appears to have gone into hibernation when teachers need him more than ever.

P.K. Sarpong made this comment in a post shared on his Facebook page on 26th December, 2025.

P.K Sarpong lamented that, a number of teachers recruited by the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration between September and November, 2024, have become pawns in John Dramani Mahama’s chess game.

He continued that President Mahama, through his Chief of Staff, has terminated the appointments of these teachers who would have augmented the numbers in the classrooms as far as teaching is concerned.

“These beleaguered teachers have been ranting, desperately crying and screaming at the top of their voices, in their attempts to get the leadership of teacher unions to stand by their side in their fight for survival.

Angel Carbonu, the President of NAGRAT, has kept quiet in the face of this injustice these sacked teachers are suffering from the Mahama Presidency. He is nowhere to be found when he is needed the most by the dismissed teachers.” P.K. Sarpong wrote.

He stated that, under the Akufo-Addo administration, the least issue would attract lengthy interviews by Angel Carbonu. He would complain, blame the government with the sole objective of painting the then administration black.

However, when the NDC came in power and has been insensitively dismissing these innocent teachers, but for reasons best known to Mr. Carbonu, he doesn’t seem to care.

P.K. Sarpong complained that, all of a sudden, Angel Carbonu has stopped talking about the welfare of teachers in general and these teachers in particular. The one who, under the previous administration, cared so much about teachers appears to have suddenly gone on a hiatus.

“The voice of the voiceless teacher, Eric Angel Carbonu, seems to have gone with the wind. What could really be the reason? Why was he so vocal under Akufo-Addo, but has gone deafeningly silent today? Angel Carbonu, where exactly are you?”
