John Dumelo is the Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture-designate
The Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture-designate, John Dumelo, has noted that his farm employs about 10 to 100 people in total.
According to him, he employs 10 people directly for the running of Melo Farms and about 100 people indirectly.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on February 25, 2025, he said “Agriculture needs to be made attractive for more people to venture into the sector.”
John Dumelo pledged his support for farmers in the various regions of Ghana if given the nod as minister.
He also advised people with an interest in agriculture to start with what they have, instead of waiting to have a lot of capital.
President John Dramani Mahama appointed the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, as Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture-designate.
The appointment was contained in an announcement by the Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, on February 5, 2025.
John Dumelo is an actor-turned-politician and also a farmer by profession.
This is his first term in Parliament as an MP on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
John Dumelo holds three master’s degrees.
He obtained his second masters from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) in 2022.
In 2024, the Member of Parliament earned his third Masters in Law (Natural Resources) from the University of Ghana Law School.
