President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Saajida Shiraz as the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF).
With a career in political science, public policy, and social justice activism, Dr. Shiraz is expected to bring leadership to the organization responsible for financing tertiary education for Ghanaian students.
Dr. Shiraz hails from Savelugu in the Northern Region and has built a solid reputation as an expert in policy development and implementation.
She holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Ghana, a Master of Science in Public Policy from the University College London, and a Master of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Ghana.
With over two decades of experience in governance, economic management, and social justice advocacy, Dr. Shiraz has played a pivotal role in shaping policies that promote inclusivity and economic empowerment.
She has previously served as Director of Programs and Operations at the African Center for Governance and Economic Management.
Additionally, she is a graduate of the African Women’s Development Fund Feminist Leadership and Coaching Program, a MILEAD Fellow, and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Commonwealth Society.
Her appointment comes at a crucial time when the Students Loan Trust Fund is seeking to enhance access to educational financing and streamline the loan disbursement process for tertiary students.
Dr. Shiraz has pledged to implement innovative solutions to improve the fund’s efficiency and accessibility, ensuring that more students benefit from financial assistance to further their education.
The Students Loan Trust Fund was established to provide financial support to Ghanaian students pursuing higher education.
Under Dr. Shiraz’s leadership, the fund is expected to expand its reach and impact, fostering a more inclusive and accessible tertiary education system in Ghana.
