You Think Running A Country is A Comedy Show or What? Netizens Drag DKB After Expressing Hope for A Political Appointment Under Mahama

Popular Ghanaian comedian, Derrick Kobina Bonney aka DKB, has been dragged by netizens online after calling for the new NDC government under President, John Dramani Mahama, to consider him for a political apppointment.

DKB, who heavily campaigned for the NDC prior to their win in the 2024 elections, said he hopes that the President will remember him and bless him with any sort of appointment. He indicated his readiness to serve his motherland if given the opportunity.

DKB made his wishes known during an interview with Kojo Daasebre on the AM Club on Max TV Gh.

“I am waiting for an appointment and hoping to be remembered by the President,” he said in the interview.

DKB went on to reveal how his admiration for Mahama grew to the highest level, recounting how Mahama once told one of his jokes on a political platform and named him as his favourite Ghanaian comedian.

Bonney described the moment as one of the highlights of his life so far. He dedicated himself even more to the NDC in the wake of that and campaigned for the party ahead of the 2024 elections. In one infamous moment, DKB shot, edited and published his own skit on the NDC’s largest campaign promise, the 24-hour economy, which was so heavily criticized that he was forced to take it down. DKB did this on his own without being contracted by the NDC hence he feels it’s his time to be rewarded by the party for his loyalty.

Despite DKB’s earnest words, social media users dragged him for trying to become a political appointee.

“You think running a country is a comedy show or what? Jokes on you!” one fan wrote.
