Executives of the National Union of Ghana Students
The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) has officially informed the Greater Accra Regional Police Command of its planned demonstration against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
The protest, scheduled for Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 9:00 AM, will take place at Obra Spot, Circle, Accra.
The demonstration follows concerns over the recent withholding and cancellation of results for some students who sat for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
NUGS President Daniel Korley Botchway condemned WAEC’s actions, stating, “We see this as an injustice and an abuse of discretionary power by WAEC. The delay has rendered affected students ineligible for admission into tertiary institutions, as all major applications have been concluded.”
He further called on all affected students, parents, and stakeholders to join the demonstration, emphasizing, “This is a fight for justice, and we urge everyone to stand with us.”
The student body is demanding urgent redress and a transparent process to resolve the issue, ensuring that affected students are given a fair opportunity to continue their education.
