Member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, George Ayisi, has raised concerns over the decision by President John Dramani Mahama’s administration to revoke all recruitments made after the December 7, 2024, elections.
Speaking on GHOne TV with Lily Mohammed, he questioned the move, warning that such actions could affect the goodwill Mahama’s government currently enjoys.
“Employment or recruitment is not an effect, it is a process. Before you recruit there is a technical clearance or financial clearance before the recruitment process kicks in. And all these have gone through from 2024 till the time the recruitments were done,” Ayisi explained.
His remarks come after the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, issued a directive revoking all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after the elections, stating that such appointments did not align with good governance principles.
“Consistent with government pronouncement in relation to the near end of tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December 2024 are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles,” Debrah said.
Addressing the controversy, Ayisi acknowledged frustrations among those affected, particularly individuals who had been following up on recruitment processes since early 2024. He also referenced claims that some recruits before 2016 were stopped and urged the Mahama administration to be cautious.
“There are other angles, I know there have been security services recruitment since January, and some of us were chasing and could not even get one. It’s unfortunate, you know as politicians people will come to you. So we followed, when is it starting, have they started?”
He further cautioned, “Mahama administration right now has a massive goodwill. It shouldn’t eat it away. Some of these things begin to take it out.”
