CLOGSAG Begins Strike Today –

Isaac Bampoe Addo

The Civil Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has called on its members to prepare for a nationwide industrial action set for Thursday, February 20, 2025.

The strike is in protest against the continued tenure of Samuel Adom Botchway at the Births and Deaths Registry.

According to CLOGSAG, Mr. Botchway’s participation in the office’s budget hearing at the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs on Monday, February 17, 2025, is evidence that he remains in his role, contrary to the government’s earlier commitment.

In a statement signed by Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, the association reaffirmed that the strike will proceed as scheduled unless their concerns are addressed.

Meanwhile the government has called on CLOGSAG to reconsider its decision to go on strike.

Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, made the appeal during a press briefing in Accra yesterday.

“We believe that the president has acted correctly in the appointment of Mr. Adom Botchway, so we would appeal to CLOGSAG to rescind their decision to go on strike,” he stated.
