Renovate public schools to create condusive learning environment

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei South, Ernest Adomako, has urged the government to prioritise the renovation of public schools to improve their standards and make them comparable to private institutions.

Speaking at the launch of the Okaikwei South Public Schools Renovation and Upgrade Project, he expressed deep concern over the poor state of many public schools, stressing the urgent need for a conducive learning environment to nurture the next generation of leaders.

Adomako stated “If education is the key, then the environment in which we educate our children must meet acceptable standards. The current state of many public schools is unacceptable, and this should be a wake-up call for all of us to come together to renovate these schools for the benefit of our children and the future of our country.”

He further highlighted the financial burden on families who cannot afford the high fees charged by some private schools, where tuition is often paid in dollars or thousands of cedis.

He emphasised that public schools remain the only viable option for many families and must be properly equipped to provide quality education.

“While we play our part today, we must also ensure that the next generation receives quality education in a proper learning environment,” he added.

Adomako also called on individuals and businesses to support efforts aimed at enhancing public school infrastructure, underscoring the collective responsibility in shaping a better future for Ghana’s youth.
