NDC debunks galamsey allegations against Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Chairman

The Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira Constituency Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have dismissed recent reports accusing their Chairman, Emmanuel Ennorkof, of engaging in illegal mining (galamsey).

The executives described as false the images circulating online, which allegedly depict galamsey pollution and the destruction of rubber trees.

Addressing a press conference on February 19, 2025, Constituency Youth Organizer Christopher Tsibuah stated that the allegations against the Chairman were a deliberate attempt by individuals with vested interests in the Nzema-East MCE position to tarnish his reputation.

He claimed that these individuals sought to discredit Ennorkof because his wife is also vying for the Nzema-East MCE position.

The executives further alleged that the false claims were intended to influence President John Dramani Mahama’s decision and prevent the Chairman’s wife from securing the appointment.

“With Chairman Ennorkofi in position, there is no way the NPP can rise again in Evalue- Ajomoro- Gwira constituency. We, therefore, call on the party hierarchy to ignore such publication and treat it with the contempt it deserves.

“We believe that some individuals with vested malicious intent driven by selfish interests in collaboration with some individuals from the NPP are trying to destroy the image of the constituency chairman all because of the MCE position.

“We the constituency executives and the grassroots therefore urge the leadership of the NDC to take note of this development and recognize that we are committed to upholding the party’s ideals. We demand a competent and affable leader to head the municipality, ensuring that the agenda of H.E John Dramani Mahama is achieved,” they stated.

They said the Chairman operates his mining business in an environmentally friendly manner.

“This claim is not only false, but it is also damaging to his long-standing reputation. We would like to clarify that Mr. Emmanuel Ennorkofi has always operated his registered business in compliance with mining laws and regulations.

“He has obtained all necessary permits and licenses required for his operations and has adhered to all environmental and safety standards outlined by regulatory authorities. Allegations suggesting otherwise are baseless and misleading. It is crucial to approach such claims with a degree of scepticism, particularly when they are not backed by concrete proof or credible sources.

“The assertions made in these publications and radio commentary lack any verifiable evidence. The publication fails to provide specific details that substantiate its claims. The pictures attached to create the impression that water bodies are being polluted by his actions are untrue.”

The Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira NDC further challenged the persons who claim their farms have been affected by the Chairman’s mining activities to provide evidence.

“The claim by one Nana who calls himself a chief, that Mr. EnnorKof has destroyed his 800 rubber trees is false and we dare the Nana to provide evidence to that. This is defamatory and in a responsible discourse, one should rely on evidence, not hearsay. It is also becoming increasingly clear that some unseen faces from the NPP may benefit from discrediting our chairman’s reputation to gain a competitive advantage.”
