Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Nyarko Osei
The Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Kennedy Nyarko Osei, has vowed that a future NPP government will reinstate public service workers dismissed by the John Mahama-led NDC administration.
In a Facebook post monitored by GhanaWeb, the legislator assured affected individuals that not only would they be reinstated, but they would also receive full compensation for the years spent out of work.
According to Mr Osei Nyarko, the dismissals were politically motivated and an attack on democratic principles. He emphasised that the NPP is committed to reversing what he described as the NDC’s “undemocratic and unconscionable behaviour.”
“We will correct these injustices when the NPP returns to power. We are keeping records of all termination letters to ensure justice is served,” he assured.
The Akim Swedru MP urged affected workers to remain patient, stressing that the NPP would ensure they receive fair treatment and the compensation they deserve.
The controversy stems from a directive by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, ordering the annulment of all public sector appointments made after 7 December 2024.
In a recent letter, the Chief of Staff argued that these appointments violated principles of good governance.
He stated that last-minute recruitments were inconsistent with the government’s official stance on end-of-tenure hiring practices.
“All appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7 December 2024 do not comply with established good governance practices,” excerpts of the letter revealed.
