Volta Regional Minister urges chiefs to maintain the peace

By Edward Williams

Ho, Feb. 11, GNA – Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has called on chiefs and elders of Dorfor Traditional Area in the Region to maintain peace in their communities.

He noted that chiefs played crucial roles in the growth of villages, towns, and cities.

Mr Gunu speaking during a visit by a delegation from the Dorfor Traditional Council, emphasised the importance of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs in fostering development.

He said merging the Local Government and Religious Affairs Ministries enhanced cooperation and governance at the grassroots level.

Mr Gunu said stability of communities was a key factor in attracting investors adding that land disputes and other conflicts discouraged investors, which in turn affected economic growth and development.

He expressed gratitude to the Council for the visit.

Togbe Gle-Daglama III, Leader of the delegation said the visit was to congratulate the Minister adding that a formal celebration would be held in April to honour Mr Gunu.

He noted that the Minister had spent a significant part of his youthful years in Dorfor, making him an integral part of their history and heritage.
