Rashid Pelpuo pledges to tackle unemployment and strengthen workers’ rights

The Minister of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing unemployment and expanding job opportunities across Ghana.

Speaking upon assuming office, Dr. Pelpuo outlined his key priorities, focusing on job creation, skills development, and the protection of workers’ rights.

He assured that the government would take decisive steps to reduce unemployment and underemployment by supporting initiatives that generate decent jobs, particularly for youth, women, and vulnerable groups.

The minister emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, the private sector, educational institutions, and development partners to enhance skills training, promote entrepreneurship, and improve access to the labour market.

Additionally, he stressed the government’s dedication to upholding industrial peace and productivity through effective dispute-resolution mechanisms, collective bargaining, and social dialogue.

Dr. Pelpuo expressed his readiness to engage with the Tripartite Committee to build consensus on key socioeconomic issues affecting workers and employers alike.
