Alhaji Mumuni wins Council of State seat with 26 votes

Alhaji Muhammad Mumuni has been elected as the Northern Region’s representative on the Council of State, securing 26 out of 32 votes cast in the just-ended election.

The former Member of Parliament for Kumbungu (1996-2004) emerged victorious against three other contenders. During his tenure in Parliament, Mumuni served on various Select and Standing Committees and also held the position of Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Speaking to Citi News, he expressed his commitment to effectively representing the region, leveraging his extensive experience in governance and public service.

“I have performed in many aspects of government. Right from Assemblymember to being a presiding member. I have served in two cabinets; in the Rawlings and Mills cabinets and I have been a running mate. I believe Northern Region could not make a mistake with the person they are sending.

“I have no doubt, that I will contribute my quota, experience, and my knowledge that  I have gathered along the way to enhance the work of the Council of State in helping the president to administer this country. The reset agenda is truly on,” he stated.

The other aspirants, Richard Andani Yakubu, Nyande Abdul Raqb, and Adam Hussein polled 4,2 and 0 votes respectively.
