The government is committed to completing the dualization of the Kasoa-Winneba Road and other key road projects in the Central Region, President John Dramani Mahama has announced.
Speaking during his Thank-you tour in the Central region, he revealed that the work on the first phase of the Kasoa-Winneba Road dualization began late last year, and once completed, the project would improve transportation, facilitate trade, and boost economic activities.
According to him, the second phase will extend from the Winneba Roundabout to the Mankessim Roundabout, while the third phase will connect Mankessim to Cape Coast.
“As phase one progresses, we will secure funding under our Big Push programme to implement phases two and three,” President Mahama said during a durbar of Chiefs and people of the Central Region in Cape Coast as part of his Thank You Tour.
The nationwide tour, which started on January 24 in Ho, Volta Region, allowed the President to express gratitude to Ghanaians for their support in the 2024 elections. A similar durbar was held in Sekondi for the Western Region on February 5.
Addressing the public at the Jubilee Park in Cape Coast, President Mahama highlighted other major road projects, including the Yamoransa-Praso Road and the Cape Coast-Twifo Praso Road.
Additionally, he revealed that the Mankessim Market is among several markets earmarked for modernization under the government’s Market Enhancement Programme.
Reflecting on the election victory, President Mahama attributed the success to the collective efforts of Ghanaians and called for unity.
“We all share responsibility as we embark on this new journey. I am a President for all Ghanaians and remain committed to unity, inclusivity, and ensuring that no region or community is left behind,” he stated.
He urged Ghanaians to move beyond past divisions, emphasizing that “our strength lies in our diversity, and together we will overcome challenges to achieve progress.”
Outlining his vision, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to job creation, particularly for the youth.
He stressed that the government would invest in initiatives that provide opportunities for farmers, entrepreneurs, and workers.
“Our 24-hour economy plan is designed to enhance production, productivity, and employment by creating an environment where businesses in agro-processing, manufacturing, and construction can expand through a three-shift system,” he explained.
President Mahama also underscored the government’s focus on infrastructure, pledging to prioritize roads, schools, healthcare facilities, electrification, and access to clean drinking water across all regions.
