Annoh-Dompreh’s Conducts Land Him In Trouble As CSOs Press Over 4 Different Charges Against Him

Popular Civil Society Organisation, “CARE” Ghana has called for the immediate arrest of the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, citing allegations of political violence and disregard for the laws of the state. The demand follows a series of controversial incidents that have raised concerns over the MPs conduct, including allegedly inciting violence, threatening the parliament house and the IGP, with implications for national peace and security.

The first incident in question took place during the collation of parliamentary results at St. Martins SHS, where tensions escalated, leading to a shooting. Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress(NDC), accused Annoh-Dompreh of being involved in the shooting of Richard Tabor, an observer who was later hospitalised. The NDC also called for the arrest of the MP, which added fuel to the growing demand for him to be put to bar.

In a separate,. widely circulated incident, Annoh-Dompreh was filmed walking away from a court bailiff attempting to serve him with an injunction related to the Nsawam-Adoagyiri election results. The MP dismissed the bailiff’s efforts with a comment, “If you are doing your job, do your job” which has been widely interpreted as a blatant disregard for the rule of law.

Adding to the pressure, environmental group Eco-Concious Citizens also joined the calls for accountability, accusing Annoh-Dompreh of admitting to involvement in illegal mining, popularly known as Galamsey. The group claims that his actions have led to severe environmental degradation, including water pollution and land degradation.

CARE Ghana’s call for Annoh-Dompreh’s arrest has sparked intense debate on the need for political accountability and the upholding of the law.
