Cape Coast, Feb 07, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama has assured the Chiefs and People of the Central Region of their fair share of the national cake.
He assured them that the Government would complete the construction of all major roads within the Region such as the dualisation of the Kasoa-Winneba Road.
He also mentioned the completion and operationalisation of the abandoned Anomabo Fisheries College project by the end of 2025 and the operationalisation of the Komenda Sugar Factory.
The President gave the assurance in Cape Coast at a grand durbar of the Chiefs and People of the Central during his “Thank You Tour”, of the Region.
The nationwide tour, which began on Friday, January 24, in Ho, the Volta Regional Capital is to enable the President to express his sincere appreciation to the people of Ghana for the overwhelming support and trust reposed in him at the 2024 elections.
The President on February 05, addressed a similar durbar in Secondi for the Western Region.
Speaking at the Jubilee Park in Cape Coast, President Mahama expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the Chiefs and People of the Central Region for the trust and confidence they had placed in him and Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang and their administration to take the reins of government and move their dear nation into a period of prosperity.
He said the support of the Central Region was instrumental in bringing them to this moment.
“I also want to express my profound gratitude to you for making history by giving us your daughter as a history-making first female Vice President of the Republic of Ghana,” the President said.
“But let me add that Naana Jane has earned this mark of distinction in her own right, not only because she is a woman.
“And as she herself said, it is not enough to be the first to go through the door, but what matters most is to hold the door open for others to follow.
“And I’m sure that she’s going to do that so that our sisters and our daughters and mothers will all follow in her footsteps.”

fisherfolk; adding that “we listened to your concerns, we shared in your hopes, and witnessed the incredible resilience that defines the people of the Central Region”.
He said their support in the elections had affirmed their belief in a Ghana that was united, progressive, and forward-moving.
He said this collective belief in the progress of the nation would guide them as they implement the promises they made during their campaign, and that they intend to keep their electoral promises.
“Nananom, the Central Region holds great significance for our nation, not only for its rich history, but also its vital contribution to the development of our dear nation,” he said.
He said from the historical forts and castles that stand as a testament to their shared heritage, to being the agricultural heartbeat that feeds many in the length and breadth of this country, and also being the tourism hub attracting diverse visitors from all over the world, and also at the same time the citadel of education in Ghana, nurturing some of the best minds of our country.
President Mahama said the Central Region occupies a special place in Ghana’s scheme of things and that the Region had contributed immensely to the economic, cultural, and political life of their great country.

President Mahama underscored his commitment to honouring and recognizing the Central Region’s importance, whether in education, infrastructure, healthcare, or economic empowerment, they would work together to elevate the lives of all those who call this Region home.
“We all share collective responsibility as we embark on this new journey, and I wish to emphasize that I’m a President for all Ghanaians, and I’m committed to fostering unity and inclusivity, and ensuring that no region, no community, or no person is left behind,” the President stated
“Let us set aside our past divisions and move forward in the spirit of collaboration. Our strength lies in our diversity, and together we will overcome any challenges on our path to progress”.
“As we move into this new chapter, our vision for Ghana remains clear, and we are committed to building a prosperous, peaceful, and sustainable nation.”
