Minority accuses Vetting Chaos Committee Chairman of bias

The Minority in Parliament has stated that it will not participate in the work of the Special Committee established to investigate the chaos that disrupted the ministerial vetting process during the Appointments Committee sitting on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

The decision, according to the minority, stems from concerns over the alleged prejudicial conduct of the committee’s chairman, Emmanuel Bedzrah, Member of Parliament for Ho West.

“We have written to Mr Speaker, we know he is not available but we will respect the office and authority of the Speaker so we will await him to give a ruling on our letter.

“Meanwhile, if the chairman still wants to proceed, we will not be part of a one-sided committee. Our members have withdrawn from proceedings because the chairman is prejudiced. He is prejudging the issue and he is not a fair referee,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the committee has resumed its mandate to investigate the chaos that occurred on the night of Thursday, January 30, 2025.

The committee is conducting a public hearing on the person who was present in the Appointments Committee room and is expected to present its findings to the Speaker of Parliament in 10 days.
