Clear Statement: Kotoko NCC pulls out of meeting with GFA over stadium violence concerns

The National Circles Council (NCC) of Asante Kotoko has officially withdrawn from an emergency meeting with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), citing unresolved security concerns following the tragic death of Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley.

In a letter addressed to the GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo, the NCC acknowledged receipt of an invitation to discuss stadium violence after the chaotic February 2nd clash between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko.

However, the supporters’ union made it clear that they would not participate unless concrete actions were taken to address critical safety lapses.

The NCC emphasized that the tragic incident, which led to the death of Pooley, exposed severe security failures, including alleged targeted attacks and inadequate medical response.

Additionally, they expressed concerns about the apparent incitement of violence by players, technical teams, and club management, which they believe poses a serious threat to the integrity of Ghanaian football.

The GFA is scheduled to meet supporters’ groups in the Ghana Premier League to discuss and find solutions to rising security concerns at match venues.
