Dr Justice Srem-Sai, a distinguished Ghanaian lawyer, has been nominated as the Deputy Attorney-General and Minister for Justice of the Republic of Ghana.
Called to the Bar in 2011, Dr. Srem-Sai holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Ghana.
He also possesses two Master of Laws (LLM) degrees from Cardiff University, Wales, and Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Additionally, he earned his PhD from the University of Leeds, England.
An esteemed academic, Dr. Srem-Sai has lectured at the GIMPA Law School and currently serves as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana.
His extensive legal experience includes numerous landmark cases in the Ghanaian courts. Notably, he successfully argued for the striking out of the Government’s Covid-19 restriction Act as unconstitutional in the case of Appiagyei-Atua v The Attorney-General of Ghana. This was the first time Ghana’s Supreme Court struck out an entire Act as unconstitutional.
Dr. Srem-Sai is also known for his dedication to human rights, having fiercely defended protesters and individuals whose rights he believed were being violated. His nomination has been widely praised by the legal fraternity and senior practitioners, who regard it as one of the best appointments in recent times.
As he assumes the role of Deputy Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Srem-Sai’s extensive expertise and commitment to justice are expected to contribute significantly to the legal landscape of Ghana.
