Marriage counsellor and founder of the Authority Bible Church, Rev. Dr. Nana Yaa Prempeh, has urged single women to contribute financially when planning their wedding.

Speaking on Joy Prime on February 6, 2025, Nana Yaa Prempeh emphasised that men should not be made to bear the full financial burden of a wedding.

She pointed out that women who wait for men to pay for everything often end up staying single for a long time.

“In today’s world, if you’re waiting for a man to pay for everything, you’ll stay single until Mary rises from the grave.

“Confidence can be built, and anything that’s built can also fall apart. That’s why I say you need to get knowledge, as knowledge gives you power. I don’t want people to think men are solely responsible for marriage,” she said.

Rev. Nana Yaa Prempeh, however, advised women not to be responsible for the cost of the wedding rings.

“One thing I always say is that women should never pay for the rings, especially the one the woman wears. The man should also pay for the wedding gown, but it’s okay if the woman helps with the food.

“When a man pays for these things, it boosts his ego and makes him feel like he’s in charge,” she added.
