The latest batch of ministerial nominees nominated by President John Mahama has been approved by Parliament after being vetted by the Appointments Committee.
However, the Minority did not vote to approve Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Foreign Affairs Minister, hence a majority vote was required to confirm him.
While the Minority Caucus declined to take part in the approval of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as Foreign Affairs Minister, the other nominations were unanimously approved.
Only by a voice vote was Mr. Ablakwa’s permission obtained, since the minority chose to abstain.
The fourth group of ministers President Mahama named had already been accepted by Parliament.
The approval came after the committee recommended the nominations of Dr. Rashid Pelpuo, MP for Wa; Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, MP for Nanton; Samuel Nartey George, MP for Ningo-Prampram, and Kofi Adams, MP for Buem; and Joseph Bukari Nikpe, MP for Saboba.
