Sports Minister-Designate Kofi Adams assures serious investigations into Nana Pooley’s death

Ghana’s Sports Minister-designate, Kofi Adams, has condemned the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Nana Pooley, labelling it as murder and assuring swift action from the Police.

Speaking on the matter, Adams emphasized the seriousness of the incident and assured the public that authorities would take appropriate action.

“This is murder,” he stated on Sporty FM. “The police will initiate criminal investigations, and it will be taken seriously.”

Nana Pooley was fatally stabbed during Asante Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League clash against Nsoatreman FC on January 2, 2025. His passing has sparked widespread concern and raised questions about security at football matches in the country.

In response to the incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare led a delegation to Asante Kotoko’s headquarters in Kumasi to discuss security measures and ensure such tragedies do not recur.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko has announced their withdrawal from the GPL as part of the club’s effort to seek justice for the deceased.
