Police Arrest School Teacher Fighting His Male Student Over First Year University Lady in Tamale

According to the report by GHOne TV today Saturday, in Tamale, Northern Region, a school teacher in the Tamale constituency has been arrested after getting into a physical altercation with one of his male students over a university lady.

The incident, which took place last Thursday, has sent shockwaves through the community.

The teacher, Mr. Kwasi Amoako, a 34-year-old instructor at Tamale Technical Institute, was reportedly seen fighting with his student, Abdul Rahman, a 19-year-old first-year student. .

The altercation occurred outside a local café where both men were reportedly vying for the attention of Fatimah Musa, a first-year student at the University for Development Studies (UDS).

According to eyewitnesses, the two men were arguing heatedly before the situation escalated into a physical fight.

Amina Ibrahim, a vendor at the café, witnessed the altercation and described the scene.

“I saw Mr. Kwasi approaching Abdul, and they started shouting at each other. Before I knew it, they were both throwing punches. It was really shocking to see a teacher fighting his student like that,” Amina said.

Abdul, who was left bruised after the fight, explained that the disagreement started when Mr. Kwasi, whom Fatimah had been seeing casually, confronted him over a misunderstanding.

“He came up to me and started accusing me of trying to take his girlfriend. He didn’t even give me a chance to explain before he started hitting me,” Abdul recounted.

The fight attracted the attention of bystanders, and someone called the police. Officers arrived quickly and separated the two men.

Mr. Kwasi was arrested on the spot for causing a disturbance and assaulting a student.

“We received a complaint about the fight and immediately responded. The teacher was taken into custody, and we are continuing investigations,” said Inspector Kofi Mensah, the lead investigator.

The incident has sparked outrage among students and staff at Tamale Technical Institute. Selina Yeboah, a fellow teacher, expressed disbelief.

“I’ve worked with Mr. Kwasi for years, and I never thought he would get involved in something like this. It’s embarrassing,” she said.

Abdul’s classmates have also voiced their concern over the teacher’s behavior.

“We never expected our teacher to act like this. It’s really disturbing,” said Hassan Abubakar, a friend of Abdul.

In a brief statement, Mr. Kwasi admitted to his actions but claimed the situation got out of hand.

“I made a mistake, and I deeply regret the way I acted. It was wrong, and I am sorry to Abdul and the entire school,” he said.

The police are continuing their investigations and will decide whether Mr. Kwasi will face charges for assault.

Meanwhile, Fatimah has distanced herself from both men, saying the incident was a misunderstanding over an issue she never wanted to be involved in.
