Professor Kobby Mensah, an Associate Professor at the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS), has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC).
GTDC is responsible for promoting and attracting investment in Ghana’s tourism sector, supporting small businesses, and enhancing the country’s tourism infrastructure. The company also collaborates with both local and foreign partners to drive industry growth.
Prof. Kobby Mensah is a native of Takoradi in the Western Region, he began his education at St. Peter’s Primary School before attending St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast. He furthered his studies at the Institute of Professional Studies (now UPSA) before earning an MSc in International Marketing from Sheffield Hallam University, UK, and a PhD in Journalism from the University of Sheffield, UK.
His career spans academia and industry, having worked as a marketing manager at the Student and Youth Travel Organization (SYTO) and later transitioning to academia. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at UGBS and a Chartered Marketer (CIM, UK).
A recognized researcher and author, he edited the book Political Marketing and Management in Ghana: A New Architecture, published by Palgrave MacMillan, UK.
With his extensive expertise in marketing and strategic leadership, Prof. Mensah is expected to drive innovation and investment in Ghana’s tourism sector through his new role at GTDC.
