Accra, Jan. 30, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Madam Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo Houadjeto as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).
Madam Houadjeto succeeds Mr. Akwesi Agyeman, who resigned earlier this year after eight years of leading the Authority.
She was the parliamentary candidate aspirant for the Mfantsiman Constituency in the 2024 general elections and previously served as the Deputy Women’s Organiser of the NDC.
Madam Houadjeto will now head the GTA, the primary agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts responsible for promoting tourism, marketing, and ensuring quality assurance.
With the government’s flagship programme, “The Black Star Experience,” expected to transform the tourism and creative arts sectors, she is anticipated to collaborate closely with the sector ministry and other agencies to build upon the successes achieved during the previous administration.
The GTA has played a crucial role in driving Ghana’s tourism industry, spearheading major initiatives like the “Year of Return” and “Beyond the Return,” which have significantly increased international arrivals in recent years.
