The NDC Black Star Experience must be a reset agenda to boost the Ghanaian cultural currency

As early as 1963, Ghanaian newspapers reserved centre pages for local languages. What is the reason behind their complete disappearance from our newspapers at present?

By this, considering the RESET Agenda of HE John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, and in balancing attention for the growth of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts (note that it is not Ministry of Creative Art), the culture sub sector of the ministry must not be relegated to the background: the National Commission on Culture and other culture agencies including the Bureau of Ghana Languages should be given critical attention and required resources-funding and efficient leadership- to deliver their respective mandates.

Because regarding the concept of the Black Star Experience—expression of the beautiful and valuable culture of Ghana to inspire the sense of pride in all Ghanaians and as well open doors for economic fortunes—we shall be caught in mere rhetoric and sloganeering if our culture agencies and board—National Commission on Culture, Bureau of Ghana Languages and National Folklore Board—are but only white elephants.

—Our languages, our customs, our games, our funerals, our naming ceremonies, our music & dances etc define us.—

It is imperative to note that in order to make our tourism capital more attractive, especially to foreigners, we must have a very unique commodity of much interest to potential tourism customers across globe, and certainly, one of such raw materials for that is “our way of life”—our beautiful culture!
