On-air personality Prince Bempong Marfo, popularly known as Kojo Marfo, has opened up about a life-altering experience during an interview on the Asetena Pa show with Akoto Mansa.

The discussion delved into a traumatic event from 2005 that left Marfo with a bullet permanently lodged in his thigh, a vivid reminder of the night that nearly cost him his life.

Marfo recounted how the incident unfolded on August 24, 2005, a day that began with his routine Sunday school teaching duties and a post-service session focused on biblical teachings for educators.

Later that day, he attended a farewell party organized by his friend Maxwell for visitors from abroad.

What started as a joyful gathering took a terrifying turn when Maxwell, dropping off the guests, returned to the house in a panic, pursued by masked and armed robbers.

“The moment Maxwell sped into the house, we knew something was wrong,” Marfo recalled. In the ensuing chaos, those present scrambled for safety, ultimately taking refuge in a washroom. However, their sanctuary was short-lived when one of the robbers discovered them.

Marfo described the chilling moment when the intruder, with Maxwell’s wife Akosua at the front, ordered them to move to another room.

“I saw him cock the gun, and my immediate thought was to protect Akosua,” Marfo explained. Acting on instinct, he pushed her aside, but in the process, his hand struck the robber’s gun.

The unintended act enraged the assailant, who then shot Marfo in the thigh. “The pain was unbearable, but in that moment, survival was all that mattered,” he shared.

Despite the injury, Marfo survived the ordeal, though the bullet remains lodged in his leg as a constant reminder of that fateful night.

Reflecting on the experience, Marfo spoke about the resilience and strength he has drawn from it.

“It’s a reminder of how fragile life is and the importance of protecting those around us,” he said, expressing gratitude for surviving such a harrowing encounter.
