Award-winning Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye bid farewell to her late mother, Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan, popularly known as Agaga, over the weekend.
The funeral, held on January 18, 2025, in Tema, brought together notable figures in the gospel music fraternity, as well as religious and political leaders, showcasing their strong bond and unity.
The founder of Engineers and Planners, Ibrahim Mahama, who is also a brother of President John Dramani Mahama, was one of the notable figures represented at the event.
Mr. Mahama made a donation of GH¢200,000 in support of the funeral, which was announced by the MC for the event.
Various dignitaries, including Movement for Change leader Alan Kyerematen, the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God Church, Rev. Stephen Wengam, businessman Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, and many others, were there to pay their last respects.
Empress Gifty herself paid a sorrowful tribute to her mother in the form of a song at the funeral.
This was followed by a poignant moment when the casket was taken away from the funeral grounds, with a tearful Empress Gifty following.
The event was not just a time of mourning but also a celebration of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan’s life and legacy.
Performances from gospel musicians like Diana Hamilton, ACP Kofi Sarpong, Broda Sammy, and Diana Asamoah took place, followed by a strong performance from highlife artiste Kofi Kinaata.
Nigel Gaisie, the founder and head of Prophetic Hill Chapel, emphasized the need for unity among men of God, particularly prophets, during his interview with GhanaWeb.
Other personalities, including ACP Kofi Sarpong and Joshua Keche, shared fond memories of Evangelist Agnes Aba Annan.
They expressed their condolences and prayed for comfort and peace for Empress Gifty Adorye during this difficult time.
