“Stage 3 of Grief” – Beatrice Annan Takes a Swipe at Bawumia’s Aide Over Misinformation

Beatrice Annan, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communications team, has countered claims made by Krobea Kwabena Asante, an aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, regarding discussions during a meeting between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as reported by Ghana Web on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

The meeting, which took place on Thursday, January 9, 2025, was attended by President John Mahama, Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, and other government officials.

It focused on addressing Ghana’s pressing economic challenges.

Shortly after the meeting, Asante shared on social media what he described as key points from the discussion, including assertions that the IMF declared Ghana’s economy as stable and stated that the banking sector clean-up was irreversible.

Annan, who said she was present at the meeting, dismissed these claims as untrue.

She described Asante’s statements as “very false” and urged the public to disregard them.

“I was in the said meeting, and none of the things written here were discussed,” she wrote in a Facebook post.

In a sharp rebuke, Annan accused Asante of spreading misinformation, stating, “The NPP lies will not stand. Krobea is still at stage 3 of grief,” referring to his alleged inability to accept the NPP’s electoral defeat.

Vice President Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasized that the meeting was part of efforts by President Mahama to renegotiate the IMF program inherited from the previous administration to facilitate Ghana’s economic recovery.
