Accra, Jan. 18, GNA – Research Assistants of Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, have honoured Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the Speaker of Parliament, for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the welfare of Members of the group.
During a ceremony held at the Parliament House, the research assistants presented a citation to the Speaker acknowledging his steady leadership, improved conditions of service for members, and recognition of the importance of research in parliamentary duties.
Mr Bagbin was also congratulated on his successful navigation of the Eighth Parliament and his renomination and inauguration as Speaker of the Ninth Parliament.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries and some members of the Parliamentary staff.
Mr Stephen Attuh, the Spokesperson for the research assistants for MPs for the Eighth Parliament, praised Mr Bagbin’s dedication and perseverance, saying, “Your successes are a testament to your hard work and commitment. As we reflect on your journey, we are reminded of the importance of striving for excellence in our own endeavors.”

“Speaker Bagbin’s impressive career spans over three decades, with notable positions including Minister for Health, Minister for Water Resources, Works, and Housing, and Majority Leader in Parliament. His dedication to public service and his commitment to the welfare of research assistants are truly commendable,” it added.
Mr Bagbin thanked the research assistants for the honour bestowed on him and promised to uphold the high tenets and principles of Parliametary democratic proceedings.
He highlighted the significant role research assistants played in ensuring informed debates within Parliament.
The Speaker encouraged the research assistants to continue improving and making valuable contributions to their principals.
