President John Mahama has appointed the former Member of Parliament for Bongo, Edward Abambire Bawa, as the Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
The appointment was made in accordance with Article 195 (1) of the Constitution and Section 10 (2) of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Act, 1983 (P.N.D.C.L.64).
This was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the President on Friday, January 17, 2025.
According to the statement, the appointment is subject to the Constitutionally required advice of the Honourable Minister for Energy, provided in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
The statement also noted that Mr Bawa’s appointment takes immediate effect as of Friday, January 17, 2025.
