George Opare Addo, the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has urged potential appointees against disrespect. Recognizing the challenges that lie ahead, Pablo, as he is generally known, has urged the new administration’s appointments to prioritize the interests of residents.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, he highlighted the importance of not taking the people for granted, adding that the appointees would not have jobs without the electorate’s constant support. “We should become servant leaders for the people who elected us. I pray against ego and greed because no one will tolerate it.
“To whom much is given, much is expected so we must do everything possible to protect the over 1.6 million vote margin Ghanaians have given us,” he told reporters. He stated that he would not tolerate any disrespect from an appointee, especially when people turn to him or her for support.
“The people gave us this power, and we are their servants. We are here to serve, and we will not tolerate disrespect from anyone, because President Mahama, as far as I know, does not disrespect anyone, including those who criticize him; he eats with them. “They [appointees] should know that they will always respect others. We must emulate the leader we follow and remember that it was through people’s hard work and sacrifices that we came to power,” he said.
Pablo did, however, advise party supporters to exercise patience and moderate their expectations in their desire for peace to prevail. “They should avoid any actions that will incite anger. We must strive to respect everyone. We all lose our cool from time to time, but we must make an effort to apologize when we insult others,” he insisted.
