Former Asante Kotoko striker Eric Kwabena Bekoe is poised to take on a new role as Assistant Technical Director at the club. Bekoe will work closely with Malik Jabir, who currently heads Kotoko’s Technical Directorate.
In addition to assisting Jabir, Bekoe will oversee the Kotoko Youth team’s daily activities, bringing his experience and leadership to the club’s development structure.
Bekoe, who currently serves as the head coach of Wa Sore Nante SC, is expected to add a fresh perspective to the technical team. This appointment follows comments from Malik Jabir acknowledging the challenges of extensive travel due to his age.
“Due to my age, I will not be able to travel with the team on long journeys. I will have an assistant who I will assign for long journeys where I can’t go with the team,” Jabir explained.
Despite these constraints, he reaffirmed his commitment to driving Kotoko’s technical progress. Bekoe’s playing career at Kotoko remains legendary.
He joined the Porcupine Warriors from Heart of Lions in 2007, scoring 42 goals in 48 matches during a remarkable season before transferring to Egyptian side Petrojet. Kotoko fans will watch closely as this new technical structure unfolds.
The addition of Bekoe, a club icon, is expected to bolster the team’s technical capabilities while allowing Jabir to provide strategic oversight.
Meanwhile, the Porcupine Warriors are aiming to strengthen their squad in the ongoing transfer window as they push for the Ghana Premier League title.
Kotoko recently claimed a dramatic 1-0 victory over rivals Hearts of Oak in the season’s first Super Clash, with Albert Amoah scoring a last-minute winner.
The win lifted Kotoko to sixth place on the league table with 21 points, and they now look ahead to their Matchday 14 clash against Dreams FC at the Tuba AstroTurf.
