The Member of Parliament of North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has attributed the significant loss of the New Patriotic Party in the just-ended 2024 general elections to the Party’s failure to address issues that reflect the plight of Ghanaians.
Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, on Friday, December 13, 2024, he stated that the NPP’s campaign was marked by frivolity and a total disregard for the concerns of citizens, despite the hardships caused by the same government.
Ablakwa further stated that rather than focusing their campaign on solution-driven policies and messages, the key figures of the government were instead seen dancing and singing.
“Did you listen to their key actors? It got to a point where it was as if the Ghanaian voter didn’t matter. Listen to Sammy Awuku, Wontumi, and the rest saying they will win with strategy. Really? The people don’t matter to them so they say strategy. Where is the strategy and even look at the campaign they mounted, a song and dance campaign,” he said.
Ablakwa explained that the campaign led by the NPP and its members caused Ghanaians to punish them severely, resulting in the party winning fewer seats in Parliament, becoming the Minority, and also losing the presidential bid.
“‘Sisi fiaa’ campaign and no wonder they have ended up with a ‘sisi fiaa’ Minority in Parliament. How was that a campaign of issues and policies? What was at the center of this campaign? It was ‘sisi fiaa’ and all kinds of dancing,” he added.
