In the 2024 election on Saturday, December 7, Dr. George Domfeh, a Senior Research Fellow in Public Sector Economics, said it would be challenging for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to receive 76% of the vote in the Ashanti region. In their stronghold, Dr. Domfeh has predicted that the NPP has a chance to receive 70% of the vote. On Friday’s Dwaso Nsem morning show on Adom FM, Dr. Domfeh discussed a poll that was carried out by the Institute of Progressive Governance (IPG).

He claimed that the changing political environment and other elements will make it challenging for the party to accomplish its objective. In the event that people vote for the NPP, they might receive 70% of the vote because several individuals who previously declared they would not cast a ballot are now actively campaigning. They experienced a decline, but perhaps Bawumia’s return to the area has changed the landscape. According to him, “even if all of these people decide to vote for the NPP, they can obtain 70% but it will be difficult for them to cross 76% because at the time of the survey, they had 61% votes and 15% of the electorate were undecided.”

The NPP is confident that they will receive 85% of the vote, especially from its Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also as Chairman Wontumi. According to the report, the NPP would have won with 50.2% of the vote if elections had taken place between October 15 and November 15. The study also revealed that John Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, would have received 47.3% of the vote, compared to 2.5% for all of the other presidential contenders.

Greater Accra, Western North, Upper East, Upper West, Savannah, Volta, Oti, Bono East, and Northern are the areas most likely to be won by the NDC, according to the survey. If elections had been held within the time period of the research, the NPP would have also won the regions of Ashanti, Bono, Ahafo, Western, Central, and Eastern.
