According to a Myjoyonline story. The People’s National Congress (PNC), led by flagbearer Bernard Mornah, has formally endorsed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and former President John Dramani Mahama in the forthcoming December 2024 national elections. This support was made public during Mahama’s campaign rally in the Ashanti Region, highlighting the two political parties’ strong policy and vision overlap.

During the event, Mornah addressed the throng, pushing PNC members to back Mahama. He said, “We’ve been working around the country. You should be aware that the PNC members in your area are urging you to vote for him. We are working hard to ensuring that this statement, which we are confident would lead to victory for the Ghanaian people in 2024.” His statements demonstrated that the cooperation between the PNC and the NDC is more than just a political endorsement; it shows a commitment to cooperate efforts for national transformation.

Mornah explained why the PNC decided to support Mahama, emphasizing that his leadership is critical for restoring stability to Ghana’s economy and social fabric. He went into detail: “We are here to garner support for John Dramani Mahama so he becomes the next president of Ghana to take us out of the economic and social quagmire we find ourselves in.” This remark emphasizes Mornah and the PNC’s sense of urgency regarding the country’s current economic situation.

The PNC leader was outspoken in his criticism of Ghana’s current administration, led by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing it of incompetence and neglecting to protect Ghanaians’ livelihoods. “The NPP has wrecked our economy. “They have destroyed our environment and have had a negative impact on jobs and livelihoods for Ghanaians,” Mornah claimed, presenting a bleak image of the current administration’s impact on the country.

Mornah emphasized crucial policy agreements between the PNC and NDC throughout the endorsement discussion, particularly Mahama’s commitment to removing the electronic transfer charge. He stated, “John Mahama has made it obvious that he intends to eliminate it, therefore you can see that the policies of the PNC and NDC are somewhat compatible. That is why we want a change. This agreement on crucial economic issues is viewed as a fundamental cause for the alliance.

Furthermore, the PNC has pledged to vigorously mobilize its followers to collaborate with the NDC in the run-up to the elections. Mornah emphasized the necessity of not only expressing support, but also taking concrete efforts to carry out Mahama’s vision for the country. “It is not enough to just express support. We must work together to carry out his program, which we believe will restore the country to its former splendor,” he said, urging both parties to take concerted action.

This alliance is a substantial political coalition aiming at promoting change in Ghana’s governance. With the impending elections, Mahama is positioned as a leader capable of handling the nation’s critical concerns and directing it towards a brighter future.

As the December elections approach, the PNC’s endorsement of the NDC might have a significant impact on voter mood and the political environment in Ghana. The attention now changes to how well both parties can rally their supporters and show a united front in order to win the election.
