Napo Engages Teachers For Bawumia, Touts NPP’s Pro-Teacher Record

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been engaging with various teacher groups in the Ashanti Region, highlighting the party’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of Ghanaian teachers.

As a former Minister for Education under the NPP government, Dr. Prempeh emphasized that the welfare of teachers has consistently been superior under the NPP administration compared to the Mahama administration.

He noted that teachers in Ghana currently start on a salary three times what they received in 2016, a significant improvement in their living standards.

Dr. Prempeh’s engagement with the teacher groups is part of the NPP’s efforts to consolidate support among educators ahead of the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The NPP has been touting its pro-teacher record, highlighting initiatives such as the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, which has increased access to secondary education for thousands of Ghanaian students.

The NPP’s commitment to education has been a cornerstone of its election campaign, with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the party’s presidential candidate, promising to build on the gains made in the sector.

Dr. Prempeh’s engagement with the teacher groups is seen as a key part of this strategy, aimed at mobilizing support among educators and reinforcing the NPP’s reputation as a party that prioritizes education.
