Today, December 2, 2024, the Electoral Commission (EC) initiated the nationwide Special Voting exercise. This allowed media professionals, election officials, and security guards to cast their ballots ahead of the general election on December 7.
Due to a ballot recall, the exercise in the Western and Eastern Regions, originally scheduled for 328 centres, has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024.
Anyway, while the voting exercise was smooth as centres, there were issues at Ayawaso West Wuguon Constituency. John Dumelo, who is the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ayawaso West Wuogon, condemned his rival Lydia Alhassan, the current member of parliament for the district, sharing food to voters during the special voting exercise today.
He stated that he could do worse if he wanted to and issued a stern warning to Lydia Alhassan.
Reacting to this, Lydia Alhassan in interview on UTV disclosed that there was nothing wrong with sharing food to voters who were hungry and thirsty.
