The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on all eligible voters to ensure they follow the correct voting procedures in the pending election.

The Commission shared a video on Monday, December 2, 2024, providing guidance on how to vote properly to guarantee that ballots are valid and counted.

It instructed voters to place their thumbprint clearly within the box of their chosen candidate, ensuring it is neither near nor outside the designated area.

The emphasis on correct voting procedures, according to the NCCE is aimed at reducing the number of rejected ballots, which have been a significant issue in past elections.

By following the voting guidelines voters will contribute to a transparent and credible election, reinforcing Ghana’s democratic values.

In Ghana, the issue of rejected ballots has become a notable concern.

In the 2020 elections, for instance, 313,397 presidential ballots were rejected, accounting for 2.333% of the total votes cast.

The NCCE’s efforts are focused on educating voters about the correct way to vote in order to reduce the number of rejected ballots.
