In his welcome address, the Area Sales Manager for South-West, David Woasey, expressed gratitude to the agents, merchants, and partners who have played pivotal roles in expanding the Momo service.

He reflected on the early days of Mobile Money, which launched with the memorable “Mensa aka ooo Mensa aka” campaign, and how it has grown into a cornerstone of financial inclusion in Ghana.

“Tonight, we celebrate the resilience and dedication of our Momo agents and merchants who have worked tirelessly to bring financial services closer to Ghanaians. Your efforts have shaped the success of MobileMoney and our shared vision of a cashless society,” Mr. Woasey stated.

“Fifteen years ago, we started with a bold vision to make financial services accessible to every Ghanaian through the power of mobile technology. Today, we celebrate significant achievements, including job creation, government revenue growth, and the empowerment of businesses and individuals,” Mr. Owusu-Nyarko said.

He further highlighted MTN Ghana’s customer-centered activities during the anniversary, which included market engagements, fraud awareness campaigns, and skills training for SMEs. New service offerings, such as the MyMomo app, XtraCash, and XtraBalance, were also introduced to enhance customer experiences.

The awards ceremony recognized agents and merchants who have consistently demonstrated excellence and commitment to service. Attendees were encouraged to embrace the future of financial technology, with MTN Ghana pledging to continue driving innovation and deeper partnerships within the ecosystem.

“As we move forward, our ambition is to unlock new opportunities in credit, digital payments, cross-border transactions, insurance, and investments, ensuring that no one is left behind in Ghana’s fintech revolution,” Mr. Owusu-Nyarko concluded.

The night ended with celebrations, networking, and a renewed commitment from MTN Ghana to build a financially inclusive and digitally connected society for all.
