Election 2024: ‘We won’t be a source of disturbance’

The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has assured the public of its commitment to maintaining peace and order during and after the upcoming December 7 elections.

Speaking at the peace pact signing event in Accra on Thursday, November 28, Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, emphasised that the police will not be a source of disturbance.

Dr Dampare outlined the police’s comprehensive strategy to ensure a peaceful electoral process, highlighting the deployment of patrol teams to respond swiftly to any emergencies.

He reassured the public that the police are dedicated to creating a safe environment for all voters.

Dr Dampare also urged all stakeholders to play their roles effectively to ensure that the country’s peace was safeguarded.

“We’re committed to ensuring peace, security, law and order during and post the elections. We won’t be the source of any disturbances. We urge all stakeholders to also play their roles to ensure that our peace is protected,” he stated.
