Election 2024: Uphold Ghana’s peace

Former President and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to prioritise peace and unity as the nation approaches the December 7 elections.

Speaking at the signing of the 4th Presidential Election Peace Pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28, Mahama emphasised the collective responsibility of all citizens to maintain the country’s stability.

“We owe it to ourselves to preserve Ghana’s peace,” Mahama stated.

He highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence and urged political leaders, supporters, and the general public to avoid actions that could incite violence or unrest.

Mahama also stressed the significance of ensuring peace for posterity and called on all political parties to commit to peaceful campaigns and to respect the outcome of the elections.

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia similarly made a passionate appeal to the various political parties, media, and security agencies to preserve the peace in the country during and after the 2024 general elections.

He emphasised the need for these actors to ensure peace prevails during this period and highlighted the need for political parties to embrace democracy, stating that Ghana always passes the test whenever it goes to the polls.
