The electric bus fleet promises to cut down transport fares by 40-50%, according to Dr. Bawumia
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, unveiled Ghana’s first fleet of battery-electric buses.
The introduction of the electric buses into Ghana’s public sector forms part of a collaborative effort between Metro Mass Transit Limited (MMTL) and the Greater Accra Passenger Transport Executive (GAPTE) to provide a cost-effective, eco-friendly alternative to conventional transportation.
Commuters are expected to see fare reductions of up to 40-50% when they patronise the buses.
A post shared by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the communication director of New Patriotic Party flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has shown some of the fares commuters are expected to pay when they patronise the vehicles.
Commuters travelling from Accra to Adenta are expected to pay GH¢6, and those travelling from Accra to Ashaiman are expected to pay GH¢8.
Also, travellers from Accra to Amasaman would pay GH¢7, while those travelling from Oyibi to Accra would pay GH¢8.
