Bawumia Shakes Mallam Atta, Abossey Okai, Hebron

It was just like a test of faith and credentials when Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia decided to visit some key places and market centres in the capital, Accra, yesterday.

His first port of call was the famous Mallam Atta Market, located at Accra New Town.

This time around, he was given a spectacular welcome like the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem where the women laid their garments and olive branches on the floor for the son of God to walk on.

Even before he could descend from what has come to be known and accepted as the ‘Possibilities’ bus, the market women (traders) had laid down their clothes for Dr. Bawumia, who is the presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), to walk on.

For the women, this was their way of saying thank you to Dr. Bawumia and his boss, President Akufo-Addo, for the introduction of the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.

The traders said he deserved every good accolade in the world for assisting President Akufo-Addo to introduce policies that have come to lift away a yoke of burden off their shoulders.

They therefore promised to go out in their numbers to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP come December 7 when the country heads to the polls.

An obviously overwhelmed Bawumia could not but thanked them for the show of love and appreciation, and promised to do whatever it takes to not only protect the Free SHS policy, but further strengthen it to make it even better.

From there, Dr. Bawumia and members of his campaign team went to the Hebron Prayer Centre at Doblo near Nsawam.

It was an interesting spectacle and a sight to behold when Dr. Bawumia arrived there.

People, especially women, were literally falling over themselves as they saw the ‘Possibilities’ bus.

For close to 20 minutes, the congregants could not help singing praises to God, with the entire atmosphere electrified.

By this time, people living in the area had started trooping in their numbers to catch a glimpse of Dr. Bawumia, the man of the moment.

The NPP flagbearer said he was there to seek none but God’s grace, His mercies and blessings, as he seeks to lead the country.

He was confident that with God, all things are possible, and therefore banking his hopes on Him for victory.

Dr. Bawumia offered to support the centre’s activities and operations with a gift offering of GH¢100,000, together with 50 bags of rice and 50 bags of sugar.

Leader of the centre, Elder Frank Donkor, could not help thanking Bawumia enough for the gesture.

Elder Donkor also prayed for God’s guidance, good health, protection and victory for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming elections.

The Bawumia train did not end there.

They proceeded to the Abossey Okai spare parts market, where they were given a rousing welcome by the spare parts dealers.

From the Kaneshie footbridge where he alighted from the bus, Dr. Bawumia walked through the Takoradi Station and straight to the spare parts market, where after exchange of conviviality with the overexcited spare parts dealers, he addressed them, amid promises to turn around the economy when given the mandate to govern.

That aside, he promised to introduce policies such as the flat tax rate system to enhance their businesses.

The spare parts dealers, on their part, assured him of their votes come December 7 whilst expressing confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s ability to improve on the legacy of President Akufo-Addo.
