Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, John Boadu has hit back at the leader and founder of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen for his anger over the decision by former President John Agyekum Kufuor to endorse, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party.
In an interview on Peace FM on November 22, 2024, John Boadu noted that Alan Kyeremanten is not a member of the NPP and, therefore has no right to get angry.
“Kufuor is not the one who advised us to vote for Bawumia. He saw that Bawumia is the right person to lead the country based on how the world is changing. I see no reason why Alan should get angry. What is the basis for all those tantrums, are you a member of our party,” he said.
John Boadu also mocked Alan Kyerematen for expressing his disappointment in Kufuor.
“I can’t understand why Alan even said what he said. What is the logic behind it in the first place? So he wanted Kufuor to say that Bawumia is our presidential candidate based on what he has done for the party, someone somewhere has also impacted our party positively so you should vote for him or what?” he mocked.
Background
Former President Kufuor recently granted an interview to some journalists where he endorsed the candidature of the NPP’s presidential candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Alan Kyerematen, who has since described President Kufuor’s endorsement as a big blot on his illustrious political career, questioned the basis of the former president’s endorsement while calling Bawumia’s competence into question.
This statement from Alan Kyerematen did not sit well with some NPP faithful who have also addressed him as a hypocrite and disloyal to the NPP party.
