What single thing have you done to protect your late brother’s legacy?

The CEO of the Atta Mills Institute and aide to the late President John Evans Atta Mills, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has berated the late President’s brothers for neglecting his legacy.

The banter between the late President Mills’ family and Koku Anyidoho started in July 2022 when the latter lobbied for the current government to refurbish the Asomdwee Park, the resting place of the late Mills, which was then in a deplorable state.

This time, Mr. Anyidoho has once again lobbied the NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to fund the construction of an ultramodern library at President Atta Mills’ hometown, Ekumfi Otuam, in his memory.

The library is expected to keep the memories of the 3rd President of the 4th Republic of Ghana for posterity.

At a ceremony to officially commission the edifice, Mr. Anyidoho recounted how the late President’s brothers attacked him when he tried to renovate Asomdwee Park.

“President died as the President of the Republic of Ghana. What do we do to honour his memory? Abusuapanin has already spoken about Asomdwee Park. John Mahama was President of Ghana for four years but couldn’t do anything about it, but I was attacked left, right, and center when I led efforts to renovate the place,” he said.

Twelve years after President Mills’ demise, Mr. Anyidoho is challenging the Mills brothers to point out a single project they have championed to keep their brother’s legacy.

“Twelve years after his death, I am challenging President Mills’ late brothers Samuel (Samuel Atta Mills, MP for Komenda Edina Eguafo Abirem) and Cadman (Dr. Cadman Mills) to show a single thing they have done to keep his memory. Ask them. They have done absolutely nothing,” he added.

He expressed his utter appreciation to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh for solely funding the project.
