Joyce Bawa Mogtari, the NDC Communicator and former President John Dramani Mahama’s spokesman, has blasted Samira Bawumia, the second lady, for violating Ghanaian political decorum. Mogtari claims that when Samira Bawumia attacked former President Mahama personally in 2016, she violated one of Ghanaian politics’ unwritten laws.

Prior to the 2016 elections, Samira joined the chorus of the NPP in calling Mahama inept. According to Bawa Mogtari, Samira made history by being the first spouse of a presidential or vice presidential candidate to personally disparage her husband’s political rivals. She praised first ladies Rebecca Akufo-Addo and Lordina Mahama for managing their positions with maturity. After her husband’s disastrous failure, Mogtari called Samira a shame and dismissed her efforts to get Ghanaians to support him.
